E-bike trip to the lake

Sultry and torrid Sunday in July: nothing better for a nice solo gallop with my “powerful” e-bike by Green Planet. At 13 o’clock I leave from borgo4case after a light breakfast based on refreshing and mineralizing watermelon, in the direction of Camaiore.

I descend from the Pieve at 40km/h to cross the Lombricese stream at the “Fondi” bridge, along the via Francigena up to the “stone bridge”. From here I fly south towards Massarosa on new roads with little traffic at this time of Sunday and finally I take the white road of reclamation in the midst of silence broken only by the sound of pebbles running away under my clawed wheels.

An unknown world: rusty shacks half-submerged in the lake, unattended railroad crossings, unexpected tourist airfields, a motocross field, 2 model aircraft clubs. All deserted, unreal in this blinding light; and then fields of sunflowers and corn crossed here and there by irrigation canals, a few fishermen and yet another immense field of water lilies and the arrival in Massaciuccoli. Before returning, however, I have to fill up on energy at the “poderosa” and also for me.

I stop at Tenuta Mariani where Roberto is always ready to mix theirs Stile Segreto Sabbia e mare with its discreet bubbles, so welcome against the heat, accompanying it with two slices of salami and a good homemade bread. Once “recharged”, we set off again towards the Pieve di Camaiore where the swimming pool awaits me for a refreshing dip at sunset and the inevitable evening aperitif.

The aperitif we prefer at Borgo4case is Hugo because it expresses a masterful union between ours elderflower syrup home made and the Stile Segreto Sabbia e mare Charmat Method of the Mariani Estate in Massaciuccoli. With lots of ice, tonic water to taste and a sprig of mint, mixed in the balloon, it is the ideal companion for summer evenings by the pool. Cheers!
